Waterfall Sail

Come aboard the Shearwater this summer for the best views of one of the City's most daring and beautiful public art projects in years: The New York City Waterfalls. The project, commissioned by the Public Art Fund and the City, is a monumental installation by the Danish/Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson featuring four 90-120 foot waterfalls along the city's waterfront.
Eliasson's waterfalls will be on display from late June through mid-October. They are located at four points in the East River and New York Harbor: by Pier 35 in Manhattan; at the Brooklyn Bridge; between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn; and on the north shore of Governors Island. The falls will flow daily from 7am to 10pm and be lit after sunset.

While they are designed to be visible from both land and water, no view will be better, closer or more dramatic than aboard the decks of the Shearwater. Throughout the summer, most public sails and charters will offer stunning views of at least one of the falls, along with the usual Harbor tour of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and Governor's Island.
And for those who want a more dedicated view of Eliasson's historic public art project, the Shearwater will, beginning in July, offer a special "Waterfall Sail" every Saturday that will provide unparalleled views of this magnificent work.
